Hingula Lokamahotsav at Hingula Mandir,Gopal  Prasad initiated since 2003 inspired by the then Collector of Angul District Sri N.B.Dhal & the then Superintendent  of Police  of Angul  District Sri Asit Panigrahi , supported by the then Sub-Collector, Talcher, the Local Public and the other Members  of Maa Hingula Unnayan Parishad.

 

     The main objectives of this Loka Mahotsav is to keep alive the ancient Odia culture as well as the Indian culture in the minds of the people and to create awareness among them to realize the traditional heritage and its preservation, promotion and popularization at the national and international levels without disturbing its glorious historical base and rich spiritual back ground.

 

     The annual cultural extravaganza (Loka Mahotsav) of Maa Hingula is a nine-day festival which has been celebrated every year with much pomp and ceremony since its inception

 

    With the broad objectives of Spreading the ancient Indian Culture by this Loka Mahotsav, various Dances from outside Odisha like Bihu from Assam, Rajasthani Loka nrutya from Rajasthan, Folk of India(by Renesa) from Kolkata, Bhangda dance from Punjab, Manipuri dance from Manipur, Kathhak, Kuchipudi etc are performed by the eminent artist from various states. 

 

    This festival has been organized to spread awareness about the ancient odia culture as well as tribal culture and literature. Since then this Loka Mahotsav features Odissi, Chhau, Rannapa, Goti Pua, Jodi Sankha, dances besides folk dances from Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Ganjam, Puri, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal etc. The specialty of this Lok Mahostav is that the artists coming from different districts to perform their art/dance are sponsored by their District Magistrate-cum-Collector.

 

    The very objective of this Mahotsav of discovering hidden talents and reviving dying art forms of the locality is maintained very nicely by the performance of the local school students, local cultural group of the District.
